Orpheus Island Tours & Activities

Orpheus Island Resort has many activities and all purely optional. You have the choice to relax as little or do as much as you like with an array of complimentary activities on offer. Guests of Orpheus can snorkel and explore the coral gardens where over 1000 species of fish reside, relax on your own private beach with a gourmet hamper. Or perhaps take in guided walk or simply relax by the pool.

Diving and snorkelling are also popular at Orpheus Island as Orpheus Island is located in the Great Barrier Reef and guests have the opportunity of viewing the region's best coral and 1000's of different species of fish. Snorkelling can be done from the beach, by taking one of the dinghy's to a nearby beach or by joining an excursion to the Outer Reef for either diving or snorkeling.

Diving & Snorkelling

Orpheus Island is a true Great Barrier Reef Island and the waters surrounding the island contain some of the Great Barrier Reef's best coral. Orpheus Island's fringing reef is best explored by either snorkeling or diving. There are approximately 1,100 species of fish and 340 of the 350 known species of reef coral in the waters surrounding Orpheus Island.

To avoid disappointment is recommended that you book diving in advance - please advise if you intend to dive at the time of booking. All Certified Divers must produce a certification card and/or log book verifying their current certification, and all medical criteria must be met. Orpheus Island Resort does not offer certification courses however uncertified divers may participate in the Discover Scuba Diving introduction, provided medical criteria are met.
